Did you know that Corporate travelers in Europe comprise about 12% of customers but are responsible for 30% of emissions ?
According to the IPCC, transport is the first sector of greenhouse emission and represents around 30% of total emissions in France.
That’s not very encouraging, is it?
But the good news is that at WDNR we are convinced that the private sector can be a force for good and will be a key element to go fast and far enough to make the change possible.
So what could we do to start moving the needle?
- We need to travel smarter: 1% of people cause half of all aviation emissions, according to European non-governmental organisation (NGO) Transport & Environment, and many of these trips are business-related. Some companies like The Treep can help you ****improve your business trip footprint: it compares door-to-door flights and include footprint size, It only chooses air journeys for which there is no train alternative as well as those whose door-to-door time difference exceeds 1 hour
- Chose wisely where you stay. 21% of business trip impact comes from housings and some hotels/housing sites allow to pick environmentally friendly hotels/housings with an environmental score on recycling, food served, energy score… (cc We Go GreenR). Like Galius, they also allow you to rent unusal places for holidays to discover some part of the french territory that will blow your mind. You don’t have to go far to say wow.
Some simple actions can go a long way, it is not too late to act.
