Decarbonizing Scope 3 with CO2 AI

Decarbonizing Scope 3 with CO2 AI

“Today if we do nothing, the business will not survive.”

This powerful statement kicked off our dinner, co-organized with our partner CO2 AI last Thursday, focused one of the current a hot topic: Scope 3 and decarbonization. A complex issue, but unavoidable for all businesses especially in FMCG and luxury, where Scope 3 accounts for 70-90% of their carbon impact.
Around the table: engaged decision-makers, one of our top client as an inspiring guest (thank you Camila Garcia Quijano) and a shared ambition: to engage suppliers, stakeholders at scale and transform our value chains for real and now. Feedback from the business ground is clear: climate impacts are already affecting now the P&L and put businesses at risk.

The challenges?
• Long-term vision often difficult to impose against short-term urgencies
• A shared Scope 3, particularly with agriculture and suppliers
• Insufficient traceability across the entire chain
• Identification of the data to be collected and implementing solutions to collect and track

But things are moving:
• Companies are eager to play an active role, not just react
• The field speaks: climate impacts are already affecting now the P&L (raw material price are increasing and affect margins…)

Some insights collectively shared around the table that night (with a holistic perspective from corporates, consultancy and tools):
• The urgent need to measure to engage internal teams and meet growing stakeholder expectations
• The necessity of understanding supplier practices, even without direct access
• The importance of innovating to create concrete, viable, and sustainable alternatives – and rewire our practices, our processes to make corporations become robust
• Working in coalition to mutualize efforts and impacts

Thank you Charlotte Degot and the CO2 AI team for the partnership we are building together.

The journey is collective, and every discussion brings us closer to concrete solutions.
