Our round-table at Produrable
We do need to meet with changemakers. And Produrable was a great opportunity for it.
Last week at Produrable, we engaged in insightful conversations with fellow sustainability leaders during the event, where we explored critical topics paving the continuous sustainable transformation of companies to become resilient. These discussions provided a platform to inspire and connect with forward-thinking participants, allowing us to delve into the challenges and opportunities surrounding topics like biodiversity, CSRD, product passport or strategic materials.
Here are some of the key takeaways to share with you:
- Governance and stakeholder engagement challenges in CSRD: There was a consensus that governance structures are not yet fully engaged, and expectations from auditors remain minimal. Additionally, thorough stakeholder engagement in Double Materiality Assessments is lacking, highlighting the critical need for better leadership understanding and involvement in sustainability initiatives.
- Biodiversity in business strategies: During our round table moderated by Maud Lelievre (IUCN), experts like Sonia Le Masne (Pernod Ricard) pointed out that biodiversity lacks standardized measurement tools, unlike carbon. She stressed the need to integrate biodiversity targets across regions while avoiding greenwashing. Although there aren’t yet certifiable standards, developing transparent mechanisms with third-party verification is crucial. Jean-Michel Audrain (Bureau Veritas) also emphasized the importance of biodiversity for long-term business resilience, highlighting regenerative agriculture as a key component. Our CEO and co-founder Guillaume de Vesvrotte underlined that stakeholders are increasingly demanding accountability. Beyond regulations, biodiversity preservation is now a top priority. Key players, from clients to employees are all raising the bar. Companies can’t ignore these growing expectations.
- Collaborative efforts for systemic change: The importance of businesses collaborating across their value chains—engaging suppliers, customers, and competitors—was underscored as a key strategy for amplifying collective impact. By sharing resources and best practices, companies can tackle common challenges and drive transformative action across industries.
The journey to resilience is definitely ongoing, with new challenges that are rising.
We were as glad to see the progress as we are determined to keep on pushing to accelerate this transformative journey.
